Happy 4th of July!
An unusually quiet holiday for us --largely because the kids are gone and Bassam spent half the day at work. I went to the Fourth on Franklin by myself, and was bummed to find far fewer booths and vendors than in previous years. Especially since I didn't have a husband or kids in tow who had no interest in jewelry or whatever the booth happened to be selling.
Bassam cheffed up some ribs tonight and we ate outside on the deck. Delish!!!
Then around 8:45 we walked to the Brentwood fireworks. We took the dog with us because he had seemed so unaffected by the fireworks (and needed some exercise anyway!). Well, that was an error in judgement. Charlie wasn't really afraid of the fireworks, rather he wanted to chase after them. He jumped around, barking and wagging his tail. Once we stopped to watch them, he finally relaxed and set next to us watching the sky. We were far enough away that the he wasn't feeling the big booms. Of course, walking home was another story as neighbors were setting them off in their yards. That got him really excited and he is still panting as he lays by my feet 20 minutes later!
God Bless America!
