A little skunk goes a long way . . . .

Yesterday afternoon, our next door neighbor told Bassam that he had seen a skunk the last couple nights around 10 pm and thought it might be living the woods behind his house.   So we talked about flashing the lights before taking out Charlie at night and rattling the door, so if the skunk was around, he would take off.

So around 10:30 last night, Bassam opened the front door and let Charlie out.  No rattle. No flashing lights.   When he returned a couple minutes later to let him back in he caught a whiff of that distinctive smell.

Skunk.

The good news is Charlie did not get sprayed.   The bad news is we think the skunk had sprayed a little earlier and Chuck rubbed his face in it.  Or at least one side of it.

Seriously?

Dumb dog.

So he had his first bath at 10:45 last night.

His second bath was around 11:30 this morning.

And then tonight he had the trifecta of peroxide/baking soda/Dawn, followed by Nature's Miracle Skunk OdorRemover, followed by a third shampoo.

Poor dog. He hates baths.

And I hate skunks.

And you know what else I hate?  In rubbing one side of his face in the skunk stink, he also rubbed skunk stink on his new-fangled $60 flea collar.

Goodbye new-fangled flea collar. Goodbye $60.

Charlie owes me.
